Be careful with this program... I only use it download a few particular songs at a time. Maybe the occasional movie. In any case, the Gnutella network that Limewire uses to share/download is infested with viruses. Don't download files under 1MB; those are viruses.

Well, not really. Its on my PC, and I download the odd song, but for artists I like, I buy the CD.

Users that click on the first file they see without looking at the file extension or size .....will most likely download some type of virus or malware.

Limewire is basically safe for people with novice experience.

You'd be surprised what nasty bugs and scripts you can integrate into some of the windows media files, say...wmv files for instance. With SP2 in XP, you're somewhat protected, but to be quite honest with you I would not use any of these types of services.

speaking of wmv, I'm fairly certain that it was a wmv file from limewire that caused the near destruction of my system.
If so much as single-clicked the file, it would result in my system jumping to max speed and CPU load.
Plus I couldn't delete it. It said that it was being used by another program, but I never found said program.

I've used Limewire for years now.
Works fine for me, just have to be careful.
