So Windows7 RC is out and people are wondering if their cpu supports
virtualization in order to use Windows XP in virtual mode.
Here is the list of intel CPUs that support virtualization.
You just need to go to BIOS setup to enable the virtualization.
Can't find list of AMD CPUs, but i'll look into it![]()
Please correct me if some of them are not correct.

I'm not sure but although the Core2Duo Mobile P7350 normally does not support hardware virtualization, AFAIK the P7350 in the Mac's does and also IIRC someone posted the Mac P7350 CPU is a BGA (soldered in) rather than the normal PGA.
As for settings in the BIOS, some of them do not support enabling virtualization even though the CPU has it.
Nice idea to make the list up. -
No on the Q9100? What the hell? That's my next CPU....

You may use the freeware application SecurAble to determine if your system is ready for Hardware Virtualization.

Report from my new AMD Athon Neo based HP Pavilion DV2
Update:
AMD Virtualization™ Technology and Microsoft® Hyper-V™ System Compatibility Check Utility
Intel Processor Identification Utility -
It says "Locked ON"
Question: How do I unlock it?
I am using HP Compaq 8510w
-
maybe you could go to BIOS menu and enable it?
-
Most likely means that there is no bios option for virtualization but its enabled anyway. -
Good to see the SU9xxx on there. I'll be getting a Dell Latitude XT2 soon, which has an SU in it.
-
No on the T5450? That makes it practically worthless it's so weak.
