This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     Local Area Connection icon not in Windows 7 taskbar?

    I have the wi fi icon in my taskbar area, but I have no local area connection icon like WXP had. I went to properties and its not even available. So, even though I know I have a connection, I wont know if I dont have a connection because nothing is there? Any ideas how to get this icon in our taskbar?
    I even searched google, and apparently its a common want/need from people but no real solution.

    Turn off your wifi, win7 will only show one connection icon and the wifi icon takes priority over wired. FN+F2, might be different for you
