I used to get on xp mode just fine but after I sent in my lappy to Asus, it came back and there was a password on it... Do I just have to reinstall it, or is there some other way around it?

I would call ASUS and ask them about it, but since we are not going to discuss bypassing password security on these forums my best suggestion is wipe and start over.

is it really a "wrong password" issue, or something like user account locked, or disabled, or something? i know i had some user accounts disabled sometimes for no reason in xp. had to log in as admin and re-enable the accounts. passwords wheren't changed. never really found out why that happened. never happened after xp for me, too

From the sound of it, your password issue may actually be related to a setting within Windows XP Mode and Windows Virtual PC. When looking for a cause and solution to your described issue, I came across the following TechNet forums thread “ Windows 7 XP Mode looses password” that may provide you with the solution you need.
