Does anyone have the lojack program and give some insight on it? I've read one professional review and initially the idea seemed pretty scary (i've stumbled across some stolen laptops didnt pick them up however ethics bleh). Anyways I'm currently in the market and plan on picking up a laptop soon, however, I'd like to get some kind of security/insurance once I get my palms around one.

Anyways I did some googling and found two reviews one owners opinion conflicts with Forbe's professional review. As I'm about to purchase a dell and have seen no instances of dell assuring me or even mentioning any form of "recovery" chip I'm very weary of Forbes/Absolute Software pitch. Also if they were to have a recovery chipped installed wouldn't it be illegal to for Dell or Lenovo to access someone’s network connection? At least that’s what we were taught in our ethics/networking class.

Also I read something about the programming booting from the bios chips, however, how can a system access or even recognize a wireless adapter without some form of os? Also since the application is installed in windows why would they have two instances of security (one prior to windows being booted via the "bios"/"security chip" claims and second the windows application that requires Internet Explorer to act pretty much as spy ware?)

All of this doesn’t matter much really because I wouldnt mind spending say 80 bucks for 3 years of "laptop insurance". Has anyone ever filed a claim and has lowjack ever ponied up to their 1000$ adv??

If anyone has any other laptop insurances/anti theft application worth mentioning please chime in ^___^

Thanks for reading the long post.
