Looking for program for copying/ripping protected DVD's, converting, etc...

Looking for a program that can:

• Make 1:1 copies of protected DVD's (for backup purposes of course)
• Ripping video files off of protected DVDs (for backup purposes still of course)
• Convert video files (w/support for iPhone & avi w/xVid)
• Download videos off of the internet (YouTube, etc. - just how Real Player would let me right click > download videos)
• edit - also to clip video files

So far I've found iSkySoft Video Converter Ultimate to work well, although it doesn't download videos from the internet how I like to (right click video > download, I don't like the copy + paste of YouTube URLs), and it can't copy 1:1 DVD copies. It's also $47.20 for the cheapest I could find the Ultimate version of the software (after discount code).

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

 

For the the last 3 from your list i'm using freedvdsoft. It is quite simple, easy to use and most important, free.

 

I tried DVD Soft and it seemed pretty slick, however I'm trying to find another program that allows you to right click > download videos from YouTube and other sites the way that RealPlayer did (however RealPlayer has gone greedy and requires you to pay for it now otherwise most features don't work, and it pops up under spyware scanners which is a deal breaker).

 

I use Internet Download Manager, it is the best Download Manager i've ever used. PLUS, any video you are seeing online, you will find a little Green checkmark above it, just click on that checkmark and the video will start downloading! If the video had different quality versions like some videos have on YouTube, then Internet Download Manager asks you which quality would you like to download!

After starting to use this program, I felt like I upgraded my internet! I always download at 1.6-2MB/S now from good servers! ( I have a 16 mbps connection)

I'm mostly looking for something that can make backups of my copywrite-protected DVDs now (it looks like I may just have to use the YT downloader on the software I already have). I thought DAEMON Tools was the go-to for this sort of thing from back in the day (when I did more of this), however DAEMON Tools Lite was unable to make a mirror of one of my DVDs when I tested it out (it said it was due to copywrite protection even).

does anyone have any experience with it?
(Sounds too good to be true and the reviews are mixed to say the least)

 

It's another one of those paste the link programs. I'm trying to find another program that lets me right click or hover over the video to click download (such as the way Real Player lets you download videos - however I do not want Real Player due to the fact that Real Player is riddled with malware now).

 

I've always been a bit suspicious of programs like this, but I figured I didn't have anything to lose since my school already throttles out download speeds in the dorms.. Before I was getting between 35kb/s and 75kb/s. Downloaded a few things to test it out and it's been sticking between 150kb/s up to 200kb/s. not super fast by normal standards, but a huge jump for me lol. I'll use it for the trial period and see how I like it. Idk if I want to pay $25 for it, but so far it seems to help a lot.

 

there are free plugins which do the same thing for major browsers: (firefox and chrome)

 

I ended up going with YouTube Downloader and signed up for a free service through cnet afterwards in order to get the Pro version for free (going to have to call the service I signed up for in order to cancel it before I get charged...but either way worth it for a free $20 upgrade I suppose). It downloads YouTube videos blazing fast, I only have 2 complaints about it that would make it a perfect video downloader. 1) add support for a FireFox plugin that would be one-button in the FireFox browser that you could press to add the video on the page to your download queue, and 2) make it able to select multiple files to convert within the application - it has a very good converter for making iPhone MP4 videos, but in order for me to convert all of my old FLV YouTube downloaded videos, I have to open folder > select file for each one.

Aside from this being a very capable YouTube downloader, I found a purchase site offering a discount on iSkySoft Video Converter Ultimate for only $35. It has been able to rip my protected DVDs to file format very well so far. I had a little issue trying to write one of my previously-problematic DVDs to an ISO file and then loaded it into a virtual drive via DAEMON Tools - it had a terrible delay of the audio by about 4-5 seconds. I'll have to test to see how it rips to an actual DVD, but so far this was the same problem I had before with ripping my DVDs with other programs.

Haha sorry, I ended up going the free.99 route for a YT downloader. I ended up getting swindled by a popup after downloading the YT downloader I'm using now to get the Pro version free for registering for another service and it did me in. Thanks for the suggestion anyway!

 

Or you could just modify Handbrake and use that. Free, high quality, dead simple.
