I have been asking for advice on what laptop to buy, I have found a laptop but it has no operating software!. I basically have £70 but i would prefer to spend less obviously. I need advice on what type of windows or linux to get but it needs to be able to run the latest games.

    thanks for any help.

You'll need to post your specs so we can help you decide whether Windows XP or Vista is the right choice for you. :)

edit: Forget Linux as it's not a gaming OS.

I would say Windows XP. My gaming rig exclusively runs XP because I want to squeeze the most performance out of my games. Although your specs are good enough to run Vista but i'd put 4GB of memory on the laptop.

Just get one with service pack 2. Don't worry about whether it's Service Pack 2 a, b, or c.

Once you install it you'll go online and update to Service Pack 3.

Don't buy any of the OEM products that say "No Operating System". You'll only get an activation key and no disc.
