    Hey folks,

Weird problem came up today. Whenever I install something, and I mean anything on my laptop I lose the icon associations for Microsoft Office and VMWare. It's only those two programs that lose their icons. The programs still work fine when I start them but their icones don't show up in the taskbar/start menu.

    Any clue what's up?

That's pretty common, at least for the Office icons. For some reason, these seem to be particularly prone to corruption. The solution is to delete the icon cache, then it will be rebuilt and your icons should be back.

I had this happen a few times on some of my machines as well. However, if you really see this after every single install, then something else may be wrong. Have you tried rebuilding your icon cache before?
