Anytime I restore a file form the recycle bin I completely lose the name it had and I get a weird name with number and $ signs.. Why is this happening and what can i do about it?

First I would run error checking on the drive (I assume windows 7) From explorer window - right click C .. properties- tools - error checking -

According to steve p's link, a possible cause was due to installing teracopy. There could have been a software bug from something that you installed recently if it wasn't teracopy, in your case. You can try a system restore point if you have one available, or a Windows repair.
