Hi guys this is what i'v done and cant do anything more myself, i am completely desperate to fix it :(

Yesterday i reintalled windows as my camera didint work(some issues with one of the updates) then i wanted to remove windows.old files. Did it first with disk clean up but 800mb left that i couldnt remove and used cc cleaner wich i think accidentally removed some important files...

I couldnt get access to windows after restart as only blank window occur so i used f2 at the start and did reinstall with keeping files.

Unfortunately it only got me access to lock screen after installation. All i could see was password menu and task manager option by going ctrl alt del as desktop was all black. I usef restart button with holding shift and this time reindtalled windows with removing all files from disc that windows was installed

After installation nearly finished i gave password to wifi and then got that screen with choosing language/keybord. I proceed, got wait option saying it wil restsrt and every time it restarts it moves back to the same oprion to pick language and installation dont progress...

I am really devastaded and i have no idea how to get access to windows back. Can anyone help me please? I am also worried about my d:/ disc as i have all important files there. Can i somehow get access to anything by usb and copy that files not to lose it somehow unfortunately in one of the future installations?

I got linux mint on usb, but i dont know why it doesnt work. I thought i could at least copy my d: disc through it. When it opens, all i get is black screen again :(

Please guys and thanks in advance

I have 2nd laptop, but its Macbook.

I might have iso file on disc d:/ but i am not sure if its installation iso or backup iso of full system. Anyway i cant access it of course. Tried to move into option from the setup with iso files from disc but it doesnt find that hard drive(no drivers installed yet or it wante only cd) anyway i couldnt do that

The black screen problems are most likely UEFI and/or video related. Try removing the video card and running from Intel HD graphics only. Get Windows working again and then reinstall the GPU. If Linux is trying to use the NVIDIA GPU, that can also cause black screen problems. You would need to boot Linux with the "nomodeset" option in grub or lilo to avoid NVIDIA black screen issues until drivers can be installed. (You can Google that "nomodeset" option if you are not sure how to do it.)

Do you have the original Windows 7 or 8 installation media from Alienware? If so, just forget about Windows 10, at least temporarily, and get the machine back to a working condition first. I think trying to salvage what you have is going to cause you unwarranted frustration and potentially lead to an unstable system even if you get it working with Windows 10.

I dont have cd from windows 7 or 8. Recieved only installed one when i bought alienware. I will try to install linux again on usb and somehow copy all files from d:/ disc and check if i made recovery iso file there. Hopefully that nomodeset option will work, as i really dont want to open laptop and remove graphic card as i really have no idea about that stuff

Got site also for live linux creator, can that work?

Just download an ISO of Windows 7, 8 or 10 and use the Windows DVD/USB creator tool to make USB installation media. That would be the easiest approach. No need to mess with Linux to get files off of the D: drive. I don't know if you can do that on a Mac or not. Probably can, but I don't have any advice with respect to Apple products other than to avoid them. You may need help from a friend with a PC to download the ISO and create USB installation media.

I would run a diskpart clean operation on the OS drive and wipe out everything on it before doing a fresh Windows install.

not sure you if you can using Mac, it is best to use Rufus on a Windows PC and choose FAT32 as it defaults to NTFS

    Rufus for BIOS-Legacy Settings:

Ok, i managed to run that linux mint for like 40 seconds as it was freezing after that and i couldnt open d:/ disc anyway. I think it was because its formated in ntfs and linux is having some issues with it. Anyway, i am making last try to recover with clean instal with delete all files from c: disc, by aking recovery through F2 boot options at start and if i wont progress with installation again i will use what you wrote abouve with that iso file and rufus, i found very old laptopt with windows that actually might work still, but main question.

How can i get iso file for windows 10? To create iso bootable disc i will need iso picture of windows 10 first right? If i use some random one from web(would you have link to it?), i will lose my content for my serial number and i wont know the serial for the new one. So basically after that, i will have bo buy new windows 10 to have it original?

And will it read serial number automatically from my laptop during installation? I dont have it written anywhere

again eveyrthing went smoothly with installation process until that language etc choice. After that it just restarts and always show same screen with language selection. Have to download that Iso and then try the installation again

looks like it can be done from Mac. https://www.maketecheasier.com/create-windows-10-usb-installer-mac/

i am already downloading windows iso file. Mr Fox, can You please confirm, that during installation system will automatically take serial somehow from my alienware laptop?

Maybe anyone else please? Sorry to push it, but i need my laptop working for tomorrow and i am about to install it from the iso file now :( Not sure what to expect without having windows serial number and with that iso file download from microsoft site. I am worried i will be asked for that serial number

If you upgraded to Windows 10 from 8.1 or 7 and activated it before, you can install W10 from Microsoft. Just skip the serial number bit, when you connect to the internet, it will activate again automatically.

Linux Mint should have no problems reading the files from ntfs partition on your HDD.

I've just finished installation process via usb iso and it works. My d:/ disk is safe too. I wasnt asked for serial number as well.

I am doing backup for disk d:/ now and will use settings->update and security-> restore with clean windows install when back up finish. The installation i did now was just into the old files because i was afraid i might have problems with that serial if i do format c:/ before installation

    I think that should work

If you want to delete Windows.old folder, in the future:
right click on C:\ drive, properties, disk cleanup, clean up system files and then tick old windows installation files or something similar. That is the easiest way to get rid of that folder and does not require any 3rd party software.

I hope your webcam now works fine too :)

    Hi,

Yes i did that before, but then nearly 1gb files still occured in that folder and disk cleanup was not removing it. i couldnt manually delete so thought that maybe cc cleaner will do... But yea that was wrong and scared **** out of me and i knew sth bad happened straight away

My camera works too now :) I got clean windows. Backed up everything to my external disc and recovered Ease US todo Backup software to do that frequently not to have any troubles like this again

Thank you so much for help guys that i always recieve here. Best place!

Yea it is :) when i turn num lock on/off i see that change with lockup in the tray to be open/closed.

Strange that i cant do anything about it. Remove/hide or whatever. Think it was possible in previous windows. Anyway, i was just curious what was that and i can leave it there. When i start to mess, bigger problems occur :))
