    Hi,

    Using Windows XP Pro.

I've lost the hide desktop icon that I always have in the quick launch toolbar.

I think I accidentally clicked and dragged it somewhere.... but the taskbar was locked.

I use this icon all the time - how can I get it back?!?!?

    Thanks very much,

    Froskoy.

An alternative method mentioned on the Microsoft page to show your desktop is Windows key+D...its my preferred method to get quickly to the desktop.

and, if you have a microsoft mouse with a tilt/scroll wheel, pushing the tilt/scroll wheel to the right will let you tab through open windows including going to to the desktop.

It appears as through msft has changed their GUI design philosophy and is moving away from having specialized single-purpose clickable icons/buttons for common tasks (such as show desktop) moving towards mouse button/gesture and keyboard actions.

This might be a simple matter of enforcing the written definition of the windows GUI.
