    Lost sound with vista sp2

    after i installed sp2 of vista on my hp dv5 laptop i lost my sound from the computer, i could only hear through headphones so i recovered my old driver and it worked , just wanted to share so people can know.

    I don't know about you but for me, I had to change the options under 'Playback Devices' (Right-click on the Vol. icon on the task bar) and change the default playing device from 'Speaker 2' to 'Speaker 1'.

    I wonder why

    And I want to leave it as note that: A service pack install should always been done after a clean/fresh install of Windows (Vista in this case)!

    I had to change the Audio config. It was set to default the HDMI port, instead of the loudspeakers...

    btw i did it after a clean fresh install, but i didn't try checking the audio config or playback devices, i think it would have worked ,

    I install, drivers after SP2 and "never" get a problem...

    That's in your opinion, right? I have done many service pack installs on XP and Vista without ever doing a clean install. :cool:

    Service Packs are a little to far-fetched to do a clean-install, imo...unless you have the time, really want to, or is very adamant on doing so. Upgrades on the other hand should be done with a clean install, even if it is not necessary to do so (ie; Vista to Windows 7).
