Is there any way to lower the screen brightness in vista lower than the fix settings? What i mean is, is there a way to go lower than the lowest brightness setting.

Vista Battery Saver utility seems to not make any difference at all for Vista Home Basic.

You can buy a screen protector. 3M usually offers them. This reduces the light dramatically. Try it out!

Not, not brightness like that, brightness to save power. I mean the macbooks can go to a really low brightness, so as some HP computers too. I have an intel GMA x4500m. I also have Vista Home Basic.

The brightness for my laptop doesn't go down a lot.

Disconnect the LED/CCFL backlight. That way, you'll be able to save 100% power on backlight. That's the only way to lower the brightness unless you will be willing to change out the backlight itself to a lower performing model.

Yeah. Disconnect the built-in light, then drill some holes in the lid so that you can get the ambient light to filter in through the holes and "illuminate" your screen that way. :D

I had a ancient black/white pocket TV that had a screen that used daylight/artificial as a backlight to save battery`s , but it also came with a clip on backlight for night use.
