On my power saving profile, I put my maximum proccesor to 5%. Doesnt affect my downloads from bittorent/Newsgroups. They're not cpu intensive programs. hope that helps!

by the way, 57 is a little high. My Asus M50 idles at 38. This is using a pretty good cooling pad and in a room with a temperature of 21. What is your room temperature? Using a cooling pad? If not, you might try to put something under the rear of the laptop, so it sits and an angle.
