    Hello... I need some serious help! Never dont this before and time is running agaist me...

    In a nutshell I need some advice in what benchmarking program to use and what settings to use... as well as how long to use it for to benchmark a friend's pc before she moves overseas.

    The pc is NOT overclock... it is actually a laptop and we are trying to strees/test her hardware as much as possible since she just bought it and her warranty is not valid where she will be going to.

    Please advise?

    Oh, and by the way... am I in the right direction here? I mean... does benchmarking strees test a hardware to find out any issues? I do understand that nowdays with electronics is all a matter of luck too... as well as how good the things are built... and not to mention that things tend to wear down in time and only time will tell... but will benchmarking a new system help too?

    These are the benchmarking software that I am able to get my hands on;

    sandra engineer XII
    everest 4.50
    orthos_20060420
    prime95
    3dmark

    Thank you all for the input.

    The software you have is fine. However I'm not sure benchmarking is really so important for your need. Benchmarking is used mostly for two things (in my opinion :) ):

    1: So one can brag to his buddy about how his is better
    2: To see how well it is handle playing resource hogging video games

    It isn't really going to give you much indication of how well it is built or how likely it will someday need servicing. You were correct that it is just a matter of luck, how well it is built and wear & tear.

    Your best bet is to read reviews and use your instinct to get a feel if it is well built. Also, be extremely protective of it. Buy all the appropriate surge protecters, screen protecters, and a well built carrying case.
