Am considering purchasing an Inspiron 6000 with MCE 2005 pre-installed. I already have a licensed copy of XP Pro. Is it going to be possible to "upgrade" from MCE 2005 to XP Pro if I decide I don't quite care for MCE? I know I'll probably be un-installing a LOT of bloatware to begin with, and would consider a clean install of XP Pro, but would like all the lights and such to work (which I've heard is in the DELL folder??) Just looking to find out if it's going to be a pain or if I should just spend the extra $119 to get XP Pro factory installed.
Thx!!

If the XP is a full version, and not upgrade, then you'll be able to install it with no problems. If it is an upgrade version, I'm not 100% sure, but I think you can.
MCE is almost the exact same thing as Pro minus a few networking capabilities.
I'm not sure what extras you are talking about, but everything should work in both systems. The lights (assuming you mean media button lights) don't need anything to work. The dell folder contains your drivers which can be downloaded from the web.

Awesome. That's exactly what I was looking for. I do have the full version of XP.
Thank you!!
