I'm looking for a converter to convert from AVI to MPG, or MKV to MPG, or all :p. Anyone know of a good program that I can get this done with?

MKV files are known as "Matroska" video files, from some Russian video codec. I have plenty of these files and their quality's quite nice for its size. If you're having trouble playing these files and that's why you want to convert them, rather than taking the time to convert them, try installing the K-Lite Mega Codec that installs Windows Media Classic (a small sized, non-bloatware and fast) video player that can play literally any video file you throw at it.

Unless you want to convert it for totally different reasons...

I searched the web for a good 30 minutes... didn't find a trace of any free MKV to MPG (or any format) converters. I did find at least two good non-free programs, though... I believe they were both $30. Hopefully you only need to play them and can use Syntax Error's great advice, because otherwise you'll end up paying (unless you can find something).
