Im trying to run batman begins which is in 1080p MKV format. I installed CCCP. but when I try to open the file in WMP its just blank but doesnt give any error. It runs fine with Media Player Classic Cinema.

Has anyone encountered this problem? Ive been trying to fix it the whole day, its really annoying me :( .

Thanks for the help in advance

I personally have never really tried too many MKVs but i did install the cccp under 7 and using windows media player uhm... yeah 12 like you are. I am watching some Anime that's in .mkv it's not high res though. Also i never try to play videos that's bigger than my screens res. Are you playing it on the second screen? Also hmm i'd not know what to say about the wmp i rarely use it.

Use WMP 32-bit if you are running Win 7 X64 because Win 7 opens the WMP 64-bit as default and 32-bit codecs won't work. You can get codecs here
    http://shark007.net/win7codecs.html
You need to download both the main codec pack and also the x64 components.

just install the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack bro. it'll play any file u throw at it in the world.... mkx, 3gp, flv, real media, quick time files, DIVX, u name it.....

it comes bundled with the nifty media player classic, which is a very lightweight low resource and simple player that plays everything :D

    google it, its free

I use media player classic for mkvs. Works better imo.

@MaXimus: CCCP also comes with it. I used to use klite but CCCP worked better for h264 content on my computer so I'm sticking with it.

WMP 12 has native H.264 support.

Just tried CCCP, not for meh, doesn't support real media and quicktime, klite has all teh above in one neat player.

Thanks but K-Lite Mega Codec Pack FTW, nothing beats it hands down

Just get a mkv splitter. The included h.264 codec in windows 7 is much better than the ones included in klite codec pack, cccp or even coreavc.

    E.g. halli mkv splitter

Once you split the mkv file into audio and video streams, wmp12 can decode the a/v natively.

If you're using windows 7, you'll find WMP so much better than mpc. I'm not even kidding. I even stop using kmplayer + real alternative + quicktime alternative + coreavc.

WMP12 has many integrated features in the w7 shell thus making the whole user experience much better.

One would say.. why the hassel of klite mega codec pack? CCP has all this in one as well.

Klite mega codec pack has almost the same codecs as CCCP. Both codec packs include MPC as its default media player.

Because the K Lite Codec Pack is a jumbled mess of pretty much all the codecs out there and can actually interfere with each other. When I tried it, some of my videos had these horizontal green lines pattern on the left side of the video being played (usually DivX videos). No such problems with CCCP. CCCP is smaller and contains only the absolute necessary codecs that don't interfere with each other.

Why change something that's not broken? If CCCP with MPC works flawlessly on my computer, there's no need for K Lite. :)
