I have my desktop in my room and my pc is always on. Instead of waking up to my hideous cell phone alarm, I figured waking up to a nice .mp3 would be much better. Google'd and came across many different ones, but all of them have ugly UI. Can anyone recommend a nice looking, functional, and portable (optional) mp3 alarm clock? Thanks in advance.

Ive been using PC Chrono for a few months, no complains.

Play mp3 option is in the settings under "notifications".

Basically from what ive seen it doesnt copy files anywhere else other than the place you install it, so you just need to install it once then just unzip/extract the file when you format/change pcs (aka it becomes portable :p).

Indrek has a good solution here.

But, if like to get your hands dirty, this is a really easy program to type.
    - Get the time
    - use an if condition to check for a match between the ocmputer time and the time you want to play the music
    - use Windows Media Player Active X components to play your MP3 (or just fire up the MP3 with a Windows API code and it plays).

Heck you can do this in Flash, or Silverlight if you want, really easy to do. It's should be about a few lines of code (about 5 to 10 lines).

Trying out PC Chrono, seems to get the job done. Yeah, I tried actually making a scheduled task, but it was a hassle. I wake up at different times every day. It's much easier to just input it in someone else's code, ui and utilize it. Any other suggestions would be great. The more lightweight the better.

Click here to download Alarm Clock 1.0

    http://www.scottflute.com/AlarmClock/setup.exe

Its the best i've used it for 2 years now, never failed me once, you can set up 2 alarms just incase, and you can choose a different Alarm time for every day of the week with any MP3 of your choice :)
