I had no idea where to post this, hopefully this is the right spot.

How do I make an MP3 CD that is formatted like a regular CD...what I mean is, I don't want everything put in folders and subfolders etc, I just want track numbers. I've tried using Sonic Stage (sony software) and Nero 6.6. No matter what I do, I end up putting the finished disc in, opening with WMP, and just see a bunch of folders. If I wanted to make a data disc I could drag and drop using windows, I don't need a special program for that.

you have to make sure you place only mp3 files onto the cd and not their folders. instead of selecting folders of songs, you should select all (ctrl+a) the songs you want in each folder and drag them over, this way when you open up the cd in wmp you don't get folders and subfolders.

as for track numbers, the mp3 cd is still a data cd so you can't drag files onto a cd and read it in that order. if you want to sort by track numbers, you could edit the mp3 file's tag by right clicking and going to properties then giving each individual file a track number but this never works for me, i usually prefix the filenames with track numbers so my dvd player reads the disc in that order

Excellent...thank you for the quick reply! I'm going to try editing the filename.

I use the Playlist Unpacker 1.6 plug-in with WinAmp to make my MP3 CDs. Allows you to copy the files with or without paths and can add 'PL001, PL002,...etc.' to the filename to prevent alphabetized disks.

If you have Nero, Use the SmartStart and choose "Make Audio CD".
