MS Office 2007 Student allows me to install it on three computers, two portables and one PC. I have Office activated on three systems in this manner. I want to format and sell my laptop soon and put Office on my new one. Will I run into trouble when I activate on my new computer? Ta!

I'm not completely sure about this, but MSO.dll (located in Program Files/Common Files/Microsoft Corporation/office12) has something to do with activation)... I don't know if it'll be enough to just back it up and replace it (mind you, install office SP1 first if you did with the install you're trying to back up).

Otherwise just activate via internet on the fresh install, if it won't work, give MS a ring (activate by phone) and tell them what you're doing, they'll be glad to activate it for you IMHO.

    15. REASSIGN TO ANOTHER DEVICE. You may reassign the license to a different device any number of times, but not more than one time every 90 days. If you*reassign, that other device becomes the “licensed device.” If you retire the licensed device due to hardware failure, you may reassign the license sooner.

You shouldn't run into any trouble with activating the installation of your third license on your new system; provided you've taken it off the old one first (as you've implied you're going to do). However, if you do have a problem activating online, then just use the telephone activation method, which should allow you to speak to a person who will help you get it straightened out.
