How do I set up Outlook properly with my free Yahoo accounts? POP3 kept shutting itself after a while.
BTW, is there a way to restore all my emails back from Outlook to my Hotmail and school account? Is there a way to make Outlook import my emails without deleting them from my email accounts?
Thanks in advance.

This explains it pretty well

But I hink I use the ports in here:

Also:
How often do you let Outlook check?
I recently got an error every now and then with checking every 5 minutes, now I've set it to check every 10 minutes. -
After you set up your yahoo mail account and before you close the program, do this:
"tools" menu > Account Settings > email tab > double click your yahoo account > select the "More Settings" button in the lower right corner > "advanced" tab > "Delivery" option on the bottom > check "Leave a copy of mail on the server"
Close outlook and restart it and it will grab your email and leave a copy on Yahoo -
Thanks a lot guys.
If I uninstalled Outlook now, would all my emails lost forever since they were all emptied by Outlook? -
I moved my pst file around a fair bit - when reinstalling
But if you loose your pst file - then yes -
Try backing up your emails before you uninstall it.

Forwarding would wipe out the original sender information in the header. You would still have it as a quote.
But I was talking about Resend. I guess not a lot of people know about it.
There is a resend option. Under Other Actions. You have to open up the email though. Or download the Outlook addin called "Bells & Whistles" which will add the Resend option as a right click option. It is a 30 day trial, which should be enough time for ya -
Thanks a lot everyone. -
Microsoft makes an Outlook addin that backs up your PST file automatically.
It works well. See link below.

But it's a mystery to me why'd want to use POP with yahoo when you could use IMAP with gmail. If you truely need Outlook then using IMAP with gmail lets you use outlook while syncing all sent and received emails onto gmail's server so you don't have to worry about backing up emails contained in the outlook PST file.
If you don't know that IMAP and POP are please read:

You also forward all your yahoo emails to your gmail if you decide to do it. You can also keep your yahoo email as your return email address while using gmail. -
i.e. all e-mails in the same place.
So why IMAP may be superiror - especially when it comes to data safety/security, POP does have its advantages. -
1. If your computer, and all its data is destroyed all your emails are still on the gmail server. If you think backing up your PST files protects you from this keep in mind that your emails are only backed up to a certain point in time (the time you burnt the disk) and tragedies like a home fire can destroy your computer and all your backups with it.
2. If you are out of town for a business meeting and your notebook is lost or stolen and you use outlook/IMAP/Gmail you can use any computer with internet to access your gmail with all your emails. If you use POP in this scenario then you have no recourse. -
Under gmail settings you can easily forward you email to any other mail (besides other gmail I think).
-
I thought you were advocating that POP offers more data satety/security. I see now you weren't.

I've ot 6 e-mail addresses at the moment - and I prefer them in one folder
I know Live mail can do it for POP accounts - no clue for Outlook...
But I really like my e-mails in one place -
They are all in one folder though....
Well, if you use Outlook as an RSS reader, you gotta back that up separately. I have no idea where Outlook keeps those settings. But Acronis does and that's what counts. -
I peronally find it much easier to use just 1 file & 1 archive - maybe backup copy of both.
That's already 4 files...
