So it looks to me that MS is taking SSD serious and is doing a lot to make sure it works well on 7.
I have not seen OS X run on SSD and would like to know if it even runs good? Is Apple going to also make improvements for SSD in there Snow Leopard or will they let MS do the work and copy?
Please do not turn this into a flame war. Both OS's are awesome. This is a pretty simple issue and would like to have mature discuss this.

I know that I have heard about Microsoft making improvements for SSDs to Windows 7 like you said, but I haven't heard anything about Apple and SSDs either. I am also wondering if they have something in the works as far as SSDs go.

As of right now, Apple is ahead, as the HFS+ is superior to NTFS for SSDs.
Mac users have purchased the cheap SSDs (OCZ Core, etc) and have not experienced the stuttering that Windows users have.

Neither are very well optimized for SSDs according to the SSD manufacturers.

Unfortunately both OS's write to much garbage to the HD all the time and should only write to the HD if a file is modified. They should have secondary ram on the board to act as a HD for caching. Just a thought, dont even know how that would even work.

Does anyone have any better idea that would make SSD scream on systems?

EWF? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enhanced_Write_Filter
this although an embedded component can be used in XP....
EWF also speeds up your computer -

Wow that is pretty cool. So are they going to put that in 7 and if they do how much better is it going to be?

Another idea going around is to implement the file system directly into the SSD. With this solution, optimizations can be done by the SSD manufacturer.

Apparently OSX cant handle very fast SSD's. Well, more a controller thing, really, but its only a problem with OSX. -

Um.. there are many programs which have the capability to buffer read/write to ssd.
E.g. http://zflashpoint.blogspot.com/
Basically, what these programs do is to use ram as a secondary buffer which gives time for data to collect in the buffer then writes the data to SSD in big chunks thus increasing the average throughtput of the SSD. Also, you won't experience any "shutters" at all when using these programs.
I don't know any of these tools of OSX though, so if you're using those SSD with the problematic JMicron SSD controller, then I guess you're out of luck. -
