    Hi all

This is my first thread here at NBR please don't shoot me down :)

So i bought a new laptop today MSI GE60 0NC not realizing they made a windows 8 model.

    I got This:
    https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=LT-077-MS

I would assume the hardware is the same it just comes wit windows 8 am i correct ?

My real question was this if i purchase windows 8 and upgrade straight from windows 7 will i have compatibility issues. Obviously download latest drivers for windows 8 from MSI UK - Computer, Laptop, Notebook, Desktop, Mainboard, Graphics and more

Would you recommend it if it was you wanting to upgrade ?

    Thanks.

Your link leads to the GX60's page, but I assume it's just a wrong link. Anyway the only difference between the 'old' and the new GE60 is the CPU (3610QM @ 2,3GHz vs 3630QM @ 2,4GHz) which just means that the manufacturing process has matured and now Intel can clock the newer chips higher and they're still stable, but the difference is not significant.

I personally wouldn't upgrade to Win 8 yet, but wait a few weeks/months until the initial problems get ironed out, stable drivers appear, etc., but if you upgraded your laptop would be 99% functional as pretty much all the required drivers have Win 8 versions now (could be unstable though).
