So for some reason i cant get on MSN i get this error message
its meant to be something about some binary files or something that are missing
i have tried all the options i have found but none work
i am running Win7 64bit
Any ideas, i have tried to uninstall it - except that its not in the programs list
and when i try to install it it says that it is already installed
Anyone Have Any Idea?

I'm not sure, but recently I heard that MSN was dead?

MSN dead? how? why?
is MSN the same as Windows Live Messenger? -
I'm not entirely sure, I think Msoft bought rights off Ninemsn. But, I think MSN Messenger is dif to Windows Live Messenger. Apparently yes it is dead/or died
I didn't quite get the whole story, but that's what everyone is saying, I haven't been on it for ages though.
EDIT: Oh wait, I think it wasn't really dead, just being arrogant not showing anyone as online.. Hmm. -

i have Windows Live Messenger, its this that i cant sign into - sorry i have always called it MSN lol
-
Oh, lol, that's alright. Don't worry, I always call it MSN too!
I Googled the Error code, and it's talking about Windows Media Player -

when i googled it, i didnt get anything about media player i got stuff about some libary files that were corrupt or something. How can media player affect Live Messenger?
-
Sorry, I'm a little confused. What did you type into Google?

Sorry the error code is: 80040154
-
Ohhhh, That would explain it then! LOL. Try a Third Party uninstaller to get rid of it completely, like Revo Uninstaller, then try it again.
EDIT: or try this. -

Okay thanks, sorry about the mis-typing of the error code
i installed Revo - but it cant find any Windows Live Component installed? so i have no clue what the hell is going on -
That's odd.
Now you got me wondering. I'll have to investigate it further!
EDIT: Did you try this?
-

Yep i have done all of those and still nothing.
Anything for Win7 specific? maybe they dont work as i have wIN7 64bit? -
Hmmm, That may be a true statement.
Maybe try an alternative to WLM. As you got me dumb-founded. Or maybe someone else has a solution, LOL. -

at the moment i have gone with Trillion but it expires in 30days and goes to a free setup - so i dont know what i will lose
-
You can try emesene. I use it in Ubuntu, and I quite like it.

Okay thanks i will give that a go
Ah this is driving me crazy, Revo cant find it so that measn it shouldnt be installed right? and yet every time i try and run the installer it says that i have it already installed! -
Yeah, something isn't right. If Revo cannot find anything, then it can't be there, but yet, the Installer is saying there is? Hmm, you can try ZapMessenger.
BTW, Sorry that I'm giving you all this software to install! -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
i will give that a shot, something has to be going on.
Revo cant find anything but the installer still thinks that it is installed
i heard soemthing about a possible fix using a .cab file
but everywhere that had it the link to the file has died
It worked! thanks alot, that Zapmessenger worked, it removed what ever was stopping me from reinstalling, and now it works again thanks so much! -
No Problem

I've been trying to get my Windows Live Messenger to work all day. All of the command prompts and downloading service packs didn't work. What happened was, when cleaning out my laptop, I deleted a Windows Live Essential component. Try installing the essentials again, after doing so, Windows Live FINALLY started up for me. Hope this helps someone!
