It's to plug a security vulnerability in the program's internal code that can let an attacker to execute code on your computer, but yes, a work around is available for those who absolutely must stay on an older version. Even us folks using sub versions of 2009 HAVE to upgrade, so it's not just a "Microshaft iz teh evilz, and wantz to push bloat on us" move, there's a real reason behind it.

Oh and BTW, it only takes a few seconds to configure WLM to use your default AV system to scan files, if it doesn't autodetect it during setup.

Me, I'm not going to take the chance that someone could infiltrate my computer, and have already upgraded to the latest version

meh, majority of the population will be totally happy with the newest WLM 2009. MS doesn't really care about the extreme minorities who has special needs.

Your login window is absolutely gigantic.

WLM 2009 is also very nice, and looks good with Vista/Win7.

I don't know about you guys but I laughed a lot when I read the thread title. :p
Anyways... MSN also forced me to download the latest version and I truly hate it. I haven't tried out WLM 2009 yet but if it's as good as some people say I will use it.

Vinyard, i think "the latest version" is the one you tried ;D.. The OP probably means that he was forced to update to 9.

Is WLM2009 working behind proxy servers? It didn't when it first came out...
