I have Windows XP, and I want to know if I can partition off my hard drive(about 30-40gigs) and Install Mac on the smaller part. Is it possible? Or can mac only be installed on a Mac computer?

You can install OSX thru the project OSx86 project via VMWare. It just isn't legal (I believe), and the project in fact just yesterday got shut down by the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act). But there are developers and coders not affected by this and still developing for this project and it does work up to version 10.4.4 (current OSX version is 10.4.5, I believe). However, if your thinking of installing actual OSX, that is impossible to install on a x86 computer as the new OSX uses EFI (Extended Firmware Interface) while current x86 chips use BIOS. Not only that but Apple does not sell OSX on its own and it would be impossible to obtain it legally. The EFI/BIOS thing is the reason people have not been able to install Windows XP on the new iMacs but Linux (Gentoo) have already suceeded in installing on the new iMacs. This might change when Windows Vista is released though..

Ok, yeah. So that sounds like a lot of hassle. Is there any way just to get an OSX Skin? if so, tell me where. I don't really like windows blinds though.

You should try that hacked UXTheme.dll (legal), which allows users to install/use unsigned visual styles. Once you do that there's plenty just from googleing.

This is one of the best and most complete OSX transformation packs out there, some people do have problems with the installation but majority of people like it. If you ever used/seen the v.2, this is a huge improvement over it.

I have been using FlyaKiteOS for about a month now and it looks terrific! Although, the entire package does take quite a large memory footprint with all the added software; I found my self just turning the majority of them off; keeping just RKlauncher, and the Skin.

I look foward to your review.

    Just a warning guys...

It slows down your computer a little, so take note of that. After getting used to it for a while, and then uninstalling it, you can see that there is a change in performance

These look cool, but even still flyakite definitely does not look as good as OSX. As a lifetime Apple user, many inaccuracies pop out immeditately when looking at that. I'm just too scared to use anything like this...I don't know XP well enough to begin with in it's normal state! :)

Like i said before, I found myself turning off most of the extra software. From start to end, my memory usage is just up 12mb. About the pictures, If you have the key... hit "PrtScrn" then paste (Ctrl + V) the photo to Photoshop/MSpaint. Upload it as a jpeg, thats how i would do it.

If you do a search in the forum, you'll find that I've successfully installed MacOSX on my fujitsu notebook. It runs alright, quite stable. The only draw back was it didn't have wireless connectivity otherwise, ethernet was working fine, i was able to install MS Office and other programs on the OSX as well :) kinda kool, also i dont' think it supported speedstep, cuz my fan was running all the time. It'd be great if you installed it on a desktop. Anyway let me know if any of you tryin to install and run into problems :) good luck w/ it :)

Ok, so I've been using this them for a while now, and I have came to a conclusion.......It's awesome. I actually have BETTER system performance with it, than when I just used the XP theme. How is that you ask? I HAVE NO IDEA. I'm getting almost 800MB of available RAM while using the Mac theme. When I used the XP them I was only getting about 500MB or less of available RAM. So, with a 300MB increase, I'm def. keeping this theme.

    1. I would argue that it is legal to have OS X on a generic windows box provided:
    a. You own a copy of OS X
    b. That copy is not being used concurrently on a different machine.

A end user licence cannot viciate your "fair use" right. This applies to some of the odd restrictions which come with DVDs not being able to be "space" shifted.
There are licencing provisions, which are just plain void. Apple cannot insert something in a contract which would infringe on your reasonable usage of the software. Just like Sony's provision that you must delete all digital music if filing for bankruptcy or leaving the USA is nonsense....
