The only feature a mac has that I want is the touchpad gestures. Why pc's don't copy this I don't know maybe they can't due to patents. Anyway so I found some apps like two finger scroll which does pretty much what I need it to do. My main goal was to be able to scroll with two fingers (I hate that scrolling thing on the edge pc's already do) and have three finger custom gesture that I can set to my liking.

Just looking for advice or experience with other software. I tried synaptics modded drivers but they don't work with my dell xps 1640.

My new Thinkpad T420 touchpad works with all the usual gestures, including two- and three- finger scroll, pinch etc.

There are pc's with multitouch gestures. I'm pretty sure your XPS should have them. Is the Dell Touchpad driver installed? That could be your issue.

Have you tried Scrybe with Synaptics drivers? If you get Synaptics to work on your Dell try this. SYNAPTICS | Scrybe

Even with additional software you won't achieve the same comfort and happiness as you get out of a Mac trackpad.

There are some software that come close, but nothing that anyone will boast about or say it matches the capabilities of the Macbook trackpad.

As long as your touchpad hardware supprts it, yes it has multitouch, I'm pretty sureyour xps has it, and you have to install the right drivers.

Actually, pc touchpads that support multitouch have 1 more feature than macs, and that is chiralrotate, it is pretty couterintuitive at first, but it is actually extremely useful once you get used to it

Elan touchpad is almost exactly the same as on a mac in terms of two finger scroll and three finger tap. Its basically all i need from the touchpad anyways.
