I used Macrium reflect to back up my laptop when I first got it. Now its time to restore it.

I have the image on 2 DVDs. Half 1 on disk 1 and half 2 disk 2.

So Im trying to start this so i pop in disk one and double click on the file on the dvd. It comes up with a message telling me to use disk 2. (Something about starting from the last part of the backup or something) This works up until it comes time to format and everything.

Then it says drive C is in use and I have to use Macrium reflect's linux boot CD. Im like OoooooKKK! So i make this cd and boot from it. Then it tells me to find the location of the backup image and pops out my cd drive. Then I put in disk 1. It doesn't see the image file so I put in disk 2 and that works.

Everything goes fine up until the point were it is rewriting the backup files to the disk and then it says "please locate file x" file x is the name of the file on disk 1. The file on disk 1 is not recognized by the boot cd (probably for the same reason I can't double click on it). So then I think Ah Ha! And I boot back into windows and try to copy the data from disk 1 onto my desktop (to be later put on my flashdrive). Then it would be a simple matter of locating file x because it would be on my flashdrive and disk 2 would be in the computer. But no that dosen't work. Why?Because I will get 1/3 of the way through the copy and then it will say "cant continue the copy. try again or cancle?"

So basically I need to get the data off of disk 1 or somebody who knows something about Macrium reflect needs to give me some instructions on restoring from 2 dvds. HELP PLEASE!!!

That might be a corrupted DVD. Have you tried reading disc 1 on another DVD drive? If you can, take that chance and get the file out of the DVD and into your flash drive, then proceed as you said.

Tried different drive same problem when trying to copy the data. In fact it looks like the same place in the process. Its strange the disk still acts like its perfectly fine until you try to copy from it.

It does look like a corrupt DVD. I did a quick google search and found a program called DVDinfo that checks DVDs for errors. You can try that.
