Or better install a host edited file that block adware and install addon that blocks YT adware popup. That's what I did and now all ads vanish before it starts. I found one that works very well blocking YT ads in videos and popup that would results. So now I can watch without problem and the same with Chrome installed the blocks and it works to kill ads before they start. Those extension don't make it faster if it doesn't stop or kill the ads in the video before they start.

Of course yt needs some adblock help of some kind or another (ublock origin here). The polymer thing only makes youtube itself (before clicking to play\watch stuff) so much quicker on my firefox'es.
With ublock, it's instant play when clicking on anything. Never seeing any popups.

ublock and adblock(+) has been compromised by adware company already using them will more or less give ads permission to show up again. I found by trial and error - different and separate addons that work for each FireFox and Chrome and kills all ads that tries to load and if it does loads for seconds and is gone and your back to watching the video on YT that your trying to watch. But I also use a custom hosts file edit that also does further to stop and redirects and popup links that tries to interfere as well.

    FireFox Addon:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-for-youtube-adblocker/?src=recommended <<< no longer on FireFox addon site and but recent re-image to update my O/S and testing on YT seems to work since that was on the last image that it was made from. So for now I am going to keep using it and see what happens.

Update to FireFox addon: ( this is the latest version I am using and testing and so far it's working) will keep this on record but not install and see what happens to the previous addon if it stays working or not and if not then I will have to move on to this one.

What I found just by accident is this one that works so far on YT limited testing :(keeping this as backup to update to if need be-not installed yet)
    AdBlocker Ultimate by AdAvoid

Update Alert<<<<<<<<Chrome Addon: ( Pending) No longer is blocking Banners(contacted Developer to fix this problem)
    https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/youtube-auto-ad-block-aut/cdonkchimbachgaedhogkfdebillfnif

Got contact from Developer and reported Chrome version and O/S version but since rebooting the Banner on YT doesn't show so not sure what happened or if Google removed those Banners ads.

And the Chrome I know works because at work when installed it kills ads and stops ads from loading at the same time. Also along this line is Webmail Ad Blocker this little handy addon for both FireFox and Chrome further enhances yahoo email by removing annoying right side banner ads.
