When I close my laptop's lid, I want the screen to lock (like when pressing Windows+L). I can't see how do this this; the only options I see are Sleep, Hibernate, and Do Nothing.

Couldn't you just do WinKey + L then close?

Yes, but it would be more convienient and faster for it to automatically lock on a lid close.

Can't you just select password on wakeup?

That requires that the laptop sleeps, and when a laptop sleeps any programs running are paused. Since I download a lot, that would not be efficient.

Go to control panel, power options, change advanced power options, scroll down to multimedia settings, change both on battery and plugged in to prevent idling to sleep. When you close your laptop, it will lock, not go to sleep.

Wha? That doesn't make sense to me... I doubt it will work, but I might test this later when on my laptop just to be sure I'm not being to prejudicial in this case...

Anyways, just press Win+L when you get up! Then you're certain its locked.

Otherwise your other alternative is to set Windows to require your password to come out of a screensaver and set your screensaver to something like 1 minute.

I was gonna suggest you use the screensaver option that locks your compupter after a certain time.
