    I was wondering in there was any FREE software to make phone calls on my computer with my modem. And in don't really want any VoIP software like Skype. Any suggestions?

    VOIP is pretty much standard, regardless if you use broadband or modem connection, since you need a net connection.

    Calling direct over a modem line is not gonna be easy, since the signals going out would be interpreted by receiving call points as fax or file transfer.

    VoIP is Voice-over-Internet-Protocol. The whole reason it exists is to make phone calls on the computer.

    Or are you talking about using the modem as a direct dial device? Then just hook a microphone and headphones up to your audio port, make sure you have audio on your modem device turned on, and you can try some simple dialer software. If you don't trust downloaded software, fire up Hyperterm and check out some basic modem commands with your headset hooked up.
