Is there any way i can make a screensaver from an .avi file? At the moment i use "py software" (.exe is called animated screen). But i made a 30 second movie with fraps that is 690MB. Now i want to use an X number of frames of the movie for my screensaver. With animated screen i can do this, but when i want to use more than 78 frames the program shows from frame 79 and later only white frames. Is there any other program i can use that will be able to make a good screensaver?
2nd question: is there any way to make a background from an .avi file? I used a tool to convert .avi to .gif but then i loose lots of quality. I just want to try out something with high quality background that is changing 30 frames every sec.
(BTW i use windows xp, not vista).

virtualdub should be able to do what you want.....you can cut out a specific portion of an avi without any encoding (direct stream copy). also, there is a way to convert the images to bitmap, which should give you higher quality images....this last one, i'm not 100% sure about...i may be thinking about another program.

Search in google for avi to scr or Mpeg to scr etc..
I dont know of any free programs that will let you have a video as the descktop background. But with WinDVD you can; there maybe others. -
ill try this out by sunday hopefully it will work and i wont get troubles with using limited frames
