Hi guys,
Atm I have around 90 non-active backgroundprocesses running on XP SP2 PRO. Because I may want to do some benchmarking, and itll probably increase performance when I have less processes, my question is: what can i do about it?
I installed xp on this asus G1s because i wanted more performance then with vista. I did it at the beginning of august 2008! It cost me alot of time to assemble divers and get things to work, so I dont just want to do a clean install :s
any help is MUCH appreciated!

blackviper has an awesome site that should get you started on thinning out those active processes
just google BLACKVIPER -
What I did was: downloading Ccleaner, and in 'boot' I just set one or maybe two boot prgms active.
Then , in run, services.msc, I stopped several services, but there were lots I didnt understand, and I just let them the way it was...
(btw is there a way I can remove services after I stopped them?)
I rebooted alot faster, but still have around 97 non-actives now
what should I do? -
You can also check your startup list using msconfig or some other program and take out all the unneccessary junk. I have my Vista install down to 60 processes and I never messed with any of the services. My notebook is a speed demon now.

Problem solved, in my supidity I was looking at the wrong place :s
At the end, it seems that I have just 36 now
