if two of the computers are connected to the same wireless router for internet connection, how can i connect both to be able to access each other's files and folders wirelessly?
i set the sharing already on all the folders i wanted to share and i tried the "map network drive" but it doesn't work.
by the way. one computer is running XP and the other Vista.
thanks for any help

Maybe it's a firewall issue. Make sure your firewalls let the sharing ports go through.
One good way to do it is to set the firewall to allow all traffic from the respective computers, using the MAC address of the WLAN cards. (type ipconfig /all to obtain the MAC address). -
i turned the firewall settings at both off and still no luck

Have you downloaded the Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) Responder (KB922120) file?
This file needs to be installed on computers running XP, since the LLTD in Vista is different. You can download it here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=4F01A31D-EE46-481E-BA11-37F485FA34EA&displaylang=en
This should fix your problem -
ok i downloaded the update but still the same.
the error i get is this
"logon failure: user account restriction. possible reasons are blank passwords not allowed, logon hour restrictions, or a policy restriction has been enforced"
first of all, it never asked me to input the logon name and password when i mapped the address location folder.
second, i didn't set any restrictions on my vista computer on the shared drive except the number of simultaneous connections to 2. any more ideas? -

browse to the shares. if you can't see them in explorer, you won't be able to map them. if you have a permissions issue, then you need to change permissions on the shares.

make sure the computers are in the same workgroup. in Vista set the network to private or manually turn on network discovery and file sharing in network and sharing center. turn on file sharing in xp too through network connections. and do like WackyT said, in Windows Explorer type in "\\" and the computer name, hit enter and you should be prompted for login.
map network drive
