I have a vaio VGN-NW240F that comes with windows 7 home premium 64bits and I wanted to install winxp and I did. I deleted all partitions, losing the hidden partition with drivers, etc, and installed it in the new one Ive created.

Well, nothing worked after that with drivers missing, etc, etc so I reinstalled windows 7 home premium 64bits trying to reinstall all the drivers I“ve downloaded from sony website: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=VGNNW240F

Some of them did not installed (talking to sony support they told me the drivers are meant to work only with the OEM System that comes with it) but the wired internet device (that has MarvellĀ® Yukon 88E8040 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller Driver) was fine, at least for me (checking devices it says its working - I had to install the driver from their website cause the one from sony did not install) but it does not connect to the internet.

I dont know what to do anymore.
    Any ideas?

Try this... open a command window and type this with your ethernet cable plugged in...

    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew

What that does is release and renew your IP DHCP leases. Let me know if that doesn't work.

Does your wireless work? If so connect to the internet. Go to device manager and the icon that has a question mark on it (you may have several). Right click > update driver > find driver automaticaly. This will search your computer and internet for missing drivers.

Go in device manager and double-click on the wired ethernet controller. It should bring up the properties dialog box and you need to select the ipv4 and click on properties. Make sure that the ip and dns are selected to automatic.

You might have to see if you can roll back the driver. I had an issue with some driver (I think it may have been a Marvell one) that Win7 kept trying to send me as an update. It killed my wired network every time.
