In disk cleanup, my temporary files folder is over 8gb big! i'm a little wary to delete them all, as there could be something important in there? this is a brand new dell xps m1530 laptop running vista..... any thoughts?

It is probably left over files from installing stuff. I'm guessing it is safe to delete.

You really ought to consider doing a fresh install anyway, the laptop will perform much better.
