    Hey guys.

I'm running vista home premium on my hp dv6500. One thing that kinad bothers me is that i can't place my icons squarely in all of the corners.

    For example:

My icons are set on "grid" pattern so they'll stay nice and organized. However, the top right and bottom right, those are as far as I can drag them, even though there is noticable space remaining. also, the top left is wedged in tight with the top edge. I went to the store today to take a look at other models, and none of them display this sort of abnormality...everything is scaled perfectly on the demo computers.

does anybody know a way to remedy this problemm? this is really trivial but i just want to maximize the desktop space.

    thanks!

On my desktop vista does the same. I though it is a consequence of the display being widescreen.. However it is my first widescreen display so am not sure if all have this thing

Can you change the icon size or spacing? I know it's possible up through at least XP, but I'm not sure what options Vista offers in being "friendly" as it is.

Solution: Upgrade to XP (and get TweakUI).

probably because you have vista sidebar enabled and its reseving that space for the sidebar..... I can get icons under it, you just have to be fast and drag them to the side before the sidebar pops up ;P

as for fixing the aligment of the top left, just reorganize the icons.

Hit arrange --> XXX and then swap them out as you want, also changing the icon size I belive will fix it, change it to classic, then back to that size for example.

you can shrink or increase the icons on your desktop, which should realign the grid, to fit your monitor more exactly. click on a blank area of your desktop, hold the control key on your keyboard and use the your mousewheel to adjust the size.

that hold down ctrl + move scroll wheel only changed my icon sizes..i still can't get them to fit properly.

this is just plain annoying..why can my friend's 6500 and teh stores 6500 both arrange them normally...but mine can't?

its not an issue with the nvidia driver is it?

    You mean downgrade...

Another solution would be to just not use grid and hope that you dont get things too cluttered?
