    Hi all,

It looks as though XP Media Center 2005 has just about all the functionality of XP Pro. The chart that Dell provides shows the only things XP MCE is lacking are Group Policies and Central Administration. It says MCE has all the other features XP Pro has over the Home edition. Does anyone have any advice on this?

Thanks for any help! I am definitely a rookie.

The chart Dell provides is at:

I had heard that Windows MCE had everything that Pro has, yet I get confused when Dell charges more for Pro than MCE.

That's where I got confused, too, rahulnirmal. I feel like if I pick the MCE version, I'll be missing something important.

Thanks, Tomas. That was very helpful info! I'm going to go with the MCE.

No problem, and i use remote desktop all the time, which i believe is only an option on XP Pro so that also kinda proves it. Your right though, it's kinda odd that XP Pro is almost $100 more than Media Center 05 yet has less features.

You are correct, media centre is based on xp pro. Notice the default windows background isnt the green xp one, but rather the blue xp pro one !
