Does anyone know if there is any way of making Media Center play all avi files and mp4 videos .. some of the videos do not seem to work on MCE and even on Windows Media Player 11.
I find this annoying as i cant watch all the videos on my laptop, is there some sort of plug-in or modification that allows this??

Yes certain videos require special codecs and plugins and MCE will not play a lot of them. The K-lite Codec Pack has all of the major codecs and plugins so you can watch your movies/videos heres a download link:

    http://filehippo.com/download_klite_mega_codec/

It will install Media Player Classic, use that for the videos that won't play in wmp.

media center is a useless piece of pre-installed, non-uninstallable bloatware if you're not using your pc as a home theater kind of setup and just watching the videos on your laptop itself. just use whatever media player works. media center doesn't add a thing you wouldn't be getting anyway. I just use Media Player Classic most of the time.
