Hey guys. i got a dell xps m1210 today, and everything is going fine except when i am using windows media player and try to change a song, it says 'media changing' and it takes about 5 seconds for the file to play. This is happening with normal MP3s.

This is annoying me a bit, and i was wondering if anyone knows possible remedies.

    Thanks.

probably just the speed of your system, how much ram and whats the hdd like??

edit nvm you have 2gb of ram thats plenty and a good cpu too... so unless your hdd is awfull thats probably not the cause.

you can try a program like MPC (media player classic) wich uses alot less resources and runs faster. I much prefer it to WMP and see if it helps you out.

WMP is a resource hog ^^; what can I say. But your system should be good enough for seamless song changes. It may be some setting for the program.

Well just enjoy winamp its overall much better for audio than WMP, and MPC is much better for video.

i Figured out why - WMP was automatically adding all of my music to its library which is a few thousand songs. i got rid of these and now it runs smoothly.
