Great find!!
I just tried it and it works really well! Thanks for the post. -
-
****, and I just BitTorrented it last night. Thought I was so cool, watching Office Space on WMP 11. Oh well.

Great Player.
Been using it for a month with no problems. It is much faster then iTunes and works with my iPod. Always been a iTunes fan but it's been hard to go back. -
Thanks for posting it
-
Very nice, I've been using it for a few hours now and it works excellently.
-
I swear my Bar and Waves visualisation - Scope looks choppy in WMP 11 compared to WMP 10. It also seems that WMP 11 uses twice the amount of RAM compared to WMP 10. Then again, this is an unofficial leaked beta version, and I do like how the playlist shifts from the main window to the side panel.
-
Well, it's better than iTunes at least. =3
-
-
It's better for me 'cause iTunes is really hard on these old computers I'm on..
-
iTunes uses up at least 30MB of memory while WMP 10 only uses about 10MB and WMP 11 uses 20MB. So, in terms of memory usage, WMP 11 beats the iTunes.
-
It is a great piece of software.

Genuine Windows is required of course. And it is 5358.4826, not 53558.4826 version.
Cheers, -
Hey, I downloaded the file, but I can't get it to open or anything. Do I have to do something special? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the link - installed it last night. I like it a lot. I've been looking for an alternative to iTunes . . . this is it.

ooo WMP11, i thought it wasnt to b released until vista came out o.o
Anyways hehe thanks.I've always wanted to try it out -
-
I'm running WMP11 and playing a song, and it's using only 10.2 mb... definately beats 30 if that's the riht number.
You may need "Winrar" to open the archive if you don't already have it. The installer comes packed into a *.rar archive. That's probably your issue, iMark. It's a free trial download, winrar is. -
Thanks gohelet!
-
it's "qohelet" not "gohelet" -
weird...my wmp 11 consistently takes up 25-30 megs of ram
-
In minimised state it doesn't go over 8MB. Mostly on 4,7 MB. On full screen with 13000 songs in the "album view" it uses max 17 MB on my comp. I find it quite nice.
Edit:
If I move it a lot and play with Tag editor it goes up to 24 MB. But the moment I stop it is below 20. Mostly on 17 as I already said.
Cheers,

Looks fantastic! Runs well to for the most part but on some of my older systems runs slow.
-
Sorry "qohelet", could tell which letter it was there! I tried redownloading it but I am still having trouble. I download it straight to my desktop and then double click to open it. Then WMP opens it and gives me an error message? Any one else have that problem? Thanks!
-
-
Is this the same build that's going to be released publically as a beta or just a pre-beta leak?
-
This is what appears in the error box that show up when I try to open it with Media Player. I don't know if that helps. I will try to get a screen shot on here as soon as I get the chance. Thanks!
"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." -
here's what you should do (see snapshot below):
1. locate the WMP "installation pack" you downloaded (pic 1).
2. double click it. it will extract itself (pic 2)
3. follow the instruction in screen window that will be flash after self exctaction (pic 3).
hope this helps
see pictures below. -
Hmm...it looks like I may have downloaded the wrong file. I will give that a shot. Thank you for all of the help!!!
-
Thank you for all of the help qohelet. I figured out what my problem was. I didn't have any software to open a .rar file so Windows didn't know what to do with it. That is why I couldn't extract it. I can't wait to use it. Thanks again for all of your help and patience!!
-
I think I may have mentioned that solution earlier imark....

I also use winrar, it works really well. Actually I use it for all compressed files, not just *.rar. Good stuff. I hope it works for you.

Sorry about that, missed that post! Thanks!
-
Does this player support AAC files?
-
Not liking it at all. None of my Japanese song titles are showing up correctly. iTunes shows the Japanese titles while WMP 11 butches the title into incomprehensible symbols. Any solution to that?
-
Upon further review, the softpedia (and every other link to this player) is warez. The "official" beta preview of WMP 11 was not supposed to be until next month. MS calls this LEAK warez and is treating it as such.
HOWEVER...
Because of the leak, they released the WMP 11 beta TODAY!! The version supported by Microsoft is an ever so slightly newer version.
Check it out here...

Woo hoo! I really like 11, much nicer organization than 10. Thanks for the link!
-
Here are some screen shots for those who are interested.
-
So..no one has a solution to my problem with viewing Japanese in WMP 11?
-
It is a beta. Perhaps it simply doesn't support Japanese yet. Betas are always feature incomplete to some degree. When you download and install beta software, you roll the dice and take your chances. Found that out the hard way with IE7's early releases.
-
Nice pics rogue.
It looks really nice, kinda like an iTunes v2 but with a nicer looking skin.
Anyone know when the official complete version will be released?
Also, anyone know if it will sync up with my ipod? :] -
everyone,
Microsoft corporation "officially" released the new windows media player 11 Beta.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/11/default.aspx -
Yeah, I think that may have already been posted as well
In any case, it's noteworthy -
-
i have the same screen as lukealexander but i'm not running vista.
there are lots of skins out there that can replicate vista look.
-
i found this site who has a lot of plugins for Wmp. i tried using DFX audio enhancement and it really improved the sound quality of my songs.

I finally decided to give it a try. Seems pretty good. Good job Microsoft (I can't believe I just said that lol)
