I have a thinkpad x230 with Windows 7, and the built in media card reader doesn't read anything. I have the proper driver installed and I've uninstalled and installed a couple times. I have a micro SD card with the adapter that I'm trying to read but won't work. I have a USB adapter for it and it works fine with that. I thought this might be an issue with the driver and OS or something which is why I posted here.

dose it read any other card? Make sure to try more than just one card. that way you know if it is this card or the reader.

^good point. also try the card in another computer.
if it doesnt auto open after a couple of minutes does it show up in my computer as a drive option. might just be auto start not working.

i have two micro SD cards with their respective adapters. I tried both of them and then interchanged their adapters but still no luck. it doesn't show up in my computer and autoplay doesn't work. when i put it into my usb card reader it comes up instantly.

if you have one try a full size sd card.

just googled and its only a 4-in-1 SD Card Reader (SD/SDHC/SDXC/MMC slot) could be why it wont accept the cradle.
