I'm sick and tired of itunes, and want to replace it with a better alternative. PRICE IS NO OBJECT, I'm looking for superiority. Please also list your reasons for your choice.

I've tried pretty much everything I can find, and I like Windows Media Player 11 as the all-around best for my needs... mostly due to user interface. But... it depends a lot on what you're looking for.

WMP11 has the best library browser I've used (once I fiddle with the view settings a bit) and I can view and edit my playlist side-by-side with my library view.

Winamp Pro just looks like it adds faster ripping/burning over regular Winamp... I don't really burn anyway, and what little ripping I do I use a separate program for... so that would be pretty useless for me. Winamp is alright though.

MediaMonkey... the interface is just a little too cluttered for me. It seems like a decent program otherwise though, and it has a lot of features.

J River Media Jukebox is worth checking out if you like the iTunes-style interface... it's kind of like iTunes but more powerful.

Songbird looks promising because of its extensibility... but it's still young, and at this point it feels kind of like iTunes with fewer features.

I use mediamonkey. Its the best for maintaining your database. I have over 50GB of music and mediamonkey does a great job with it. It maintains your ratings, play stats (provided you have the scripts installed)

MediaMonkey, the interface is the only one I like, and it can be changed to look like iTunes', WMP's etc if you want.
Plus it's faster than WinAmp in my experience, plus you can get gold for free :D

Definitely Winamp. Winamp has shoutcast/radio videos built in with thousands of cd qualtiy radio stations. There are codecs for every format and the audio quality is better then WMP 11 IMO. EQ and visualizations are impressive. But its worth it just for the shoutcast content. But I am biased since I have always used winamp going all the way back to 1997 or whenever Justin put out his first betas.

now i wonder how thats possible?

But my personal favourite is mediamonkey. Its definitely faster than winamp in my experience and way better at adding album art to tracks. I use it only to manage my songs though. I use AIMP2 otherwise.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend buying any of these two.
Foobar2000 is a better choice if you are willing to spend time (which could take a whole weekend or more) to adjust it to your liking. Visit Foobar2000 forum to learn how to customize it.

However, if I have to choose between these two, I'd go for Mediamonkey. It's more iTunes-esque than Winamp.

Songbird,... last choice on my list... it's buggier and a lot slower (in term of performance) than other alternatives but has the closest UI resemblance to iTunes than any other choices. Anyway, last time I tried Songbird was 2 monthes ago, things could have changed by now.

I've stayed with WMP 11 because I have G-Force Platinum which has awesome visualizations and it plays in full screen mode.

I, like Swarmer, have always used WMP. I posted earlier, however, that I did actually download Foobar and have listened to some music on it before. I just have never had the time to customize it, and I also don't feel like I've played around with it enough to endorse it.

From what I've read, MediaMonkey gets mixed reviews. I've found that they're usually extremes, meaning the person reviewing it either LOVES it to death or HATES it to death. I've never really read an in between review on it.
