It seems like my Windows Media Player is having problems "accessing" the MP3 files of mine.

it starts fairly quick but once i click a song it takes a good 3-4 seconds to play it and when i click to go to a location in that song there is half a second delay in response.

It's been like that since my first day on this laptop...

    any advice?

Just to add, my computer is extremely well taken care of - viruses and spyware are surely not the cause, nor is hard rive space issues or too many programs running.

what about another media player like foobar?
is it possible that the delay is due to MP trying to go online to find info on the track?

Buffering, hardware acceleration flags. I would take a look at these options.

    cheers ...
