Whenever I try watching a video in fullscreen mode , the fps drops to half, and becomes laggy.
Why and what can I do to fix it?
I`m running Xp SP3 , Internet explorer 7, all updates to the day.

it all depended on the video source and the xfer rate, u can try different browsers and test them out against the site(s) - some sites do much better from one browser to another.

u could also try tweaking the tcp entries, there r tcp optimizers out there

    cheers ...

Well, I`m running on a 4mbit line, so that should have nothing to do with it.
It`s not something recent, so I couldn`t say when it started.
I don`t visit any weird pages or such so I don`t think it`s a virus, cause Nod32 did not pick it up...
    This is really weird.

Did anyone else immediately think "use firefox" when they read the title?

    what for?

the OP had an issue pertaining to IE, which was also pertaining many times in FF and in Opera and in Safari. There r sites that r friendly to one browser or the other and not always to all.

    cheers ...

now why would I do that?
I`m trying to solve an issue, not replace a browser.
And for your information, I do have also FF and Opera.
But I personally like IE more.
The only think I can think of is a bad install, since I updated the Java and the flash player and still the same lag...

FF is the first word that comes to my mind when someone posts any IE issue.

I simply dont understand why people still use IE7 as their Primary Browser.

PLssss Tell me why u like IE7?

    Ok, so update.
i`ve tried Firefox and Opera, and both of them, when running videos in fullscreen(youtube or other sites etc) run at probably 1/2 speed.
I`m thinking it`s some bad video codecs , because IE for example, when trying to load www.starcraft2.com just stops responding and I have to force close it.
So , I guess I need better codecs?

Which codec pack are you using? FLV or K-Lite?

and if your talking about youtube full screen videos then Flash/java player will most likely be responsible for that

I did, and for some reason it still lags in all of them.
I`m using allinonecodec pack, , I also tried Ace mega codec pack,2 of the latest versions, I`ve tried K-Lite,ffdshow, and right now I am back at the ffdshow ones, since they give very good image while watching movies.
The lag is only withing the browser, so it must be something related to the browsers...
I`ll have to work on the flash/java plugins again.
    Much abliged.

If u want Lag free videos then go for VLC player.

    It also integrates with Firefox.
It is no frills... its even better than Media player Classic IMO. for general purpose.
    Its damn damn fast also.
And finally It is very very lag free & has a very simple interface, it can also be used to get Dreamscene on any Windows version. Try googling "VLC Dreamscene" & its Legal. So mods dont close the thread :p

VLC also plays any thing... it ll even play incomplete files, corrupt files & XXX files.

Ahem... xxx means any format... not what u might be thinking... :)

    Get VLC player HERE

But VLC doesnt give you the DIVX codec quality.. obviously DIVX is no.1 in encoding videos. it gives the best picture quality... but it often LAGS like crazy on WMP.

And finally i think you should try IE8 if u are an IE fan.

I have VLC, didn`t know it can integrate in Firefox though. It`s a good tip, I`ll try that. But in the meantime, I still can`t figure out why on fullscreen, videos in the browsers(both IE and Opera) lag, like running at 15 fps...

Can you tell me what website you see the videos? let me try it out.

It might be an issue when you hit the 'FullScreen' button.

thats a video driver issue which my friend is facing... he bought a new laptop with old Intel video drivers & on clicking Fullscreen on youtube his screen goes blank.

Youtube, and all other sites , just about any site with a video embedded . www.starcraft2.com , and www.yahoo.com locks IE and stops responding...and I`ve installed java and flash player like 5 times already.
I am starting to give up ...

Why drive Merc C- Class when u getting S- class for free?

    Start using Firefox or Opera.

IE was just created to shut down Netscape navigator.. they just wanted to kill the competition.

I would say even Safari is better on Windows than IE7

Ok, I`ve fully uninstalled all video codecs, i`ve uninstalled flash player and java, reinstalled all of them and still , any video type runs at 8fps in fullscreen mode.
    It`s driving me freaking nuts!

Itttt`s back. I don`t get it, when I switched to Vista it was gone.
Updated both java and flash, installed AMCP , FFdshow, gordian node, cccp ,neither will fix it.

For those of you with XP and no lag in fulscreen videos, what codec pack are you using?
