I recently purchased a Toshiba M55 series satellite. Still debating on imaging/wiping the harddrive and loading my own version of XP but in the meantime I'm checking out some of the pre-installed stuff and there's one program that popped up after about 2 days called "Metamail". There's no explaination of what this program does (well, nothing that I'd consider an overview) and on line the only thing I can find is this website: http://www.metamail.com/support/faq.htm, which "still" doesn't tell me much....
Obviously it's supposed to do some kind of protection, but what source reference does it use?...what info does it transmit to the mothership?...does it eventually become nagware?
Anyways, in the meantime I've just used my firewall to block it trying to connect home and I plan on probably deleting it, but I'd kind of like to know more about it since there's no reference to it in the forums here.
    Thanks!
