Hi people!
I own a Dell Vostro 1000 (I know, I need to replace it... ) but I found that the mic jack is not working.

Im running XP 32bit SP3 Home Edition Version 2002.
The audio card is a Sigma Tel Audio Driver Version 5.10.0.5515 Released 10/05/2007 but when I plug in a microphone (for either WLM or Skype) it does not work. Audio Out jack works perfectly, but Mic In jack doesn't.

I have heard that I need to re-install the drivers, but I don' know how to to this, or which ones do I need.

Please help!

Is it possible that the mic in jack itself is broken or something? I am not sure though..

If you want to try re-installing / updating the drivers, Dell has a newer version of sigmatel driver.

Should be this SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio, v. 6.10.0.5866, A03 I think. Check it out.

For updating the drivers, right click on 'my computer' > properties > hardware > device manager > sound > driver tab > update driver.
