Has anyone used the program "OneNote 2007" which comes in the Microsoft Office Student Edition?

I was possibly thinking of getting the Microsoft Office Student edition, or I was probably going to get the Standard Edition which comes with Outlook 2007 instead of OneNote 2007.

Which would you think would be more beneficial? Is OneNote even that good, or what's the point of it. I read it's some 'note taking' software program, and to help orgranize notes, but I can do that with Microsoft word too. So I was thinking I would use Outlook more than I would use OneNote.

Has anyone had or tried OneNote 2007 ???

Yea, I tried it. You scribble notes all over the place. That's the novelty of it. It's kinda fun... for a few seconds. After that it became rather pointless for me. Searching for what you entered was no better than searching in Word or any text file. I'm now using Alventis for all my notetaking, and it almost replaces Word for me.

It's way better than Word for taking notes. All your notebooks and and pages are in one view.

Unless you have a tablet, the program isn't going to do much for you.

The one thing about Home and Student over Standard is that H&S comes with 3 licenses, so if you have more than one computer, it'd be wiser to get that.

It can be a very useful note taking program if your know how to use it..and its great for table PCs..other than that its just a regular word like software. I dont use it much i find word a good note taking program but they are both great in the end.

well i use it for school, on my normal notebook and it is a really handy program to have. Quite a bit easier than word to keep all my notes from all my classes organized.

Viper, I have OneNote 2003 if you want it. I have like 5 CDs, my mom works at a college and got the old stash for free (outdated).

it's a neat program...the thing that bugged me out was that I took notes on it for one of my classes (before my laptop became disabled), for the first time and I couldn't figure out how to save the darn thing. It saves everything automatically, therefore saving you a few seconds of clicking on save lol.

I always preferred hand written notes but when I entered law school the volume was overwhelming. My new laptop (at the time) had onenote and it was great. Easy diagramming (even without tablet) and powerful outlining tools. For simple note taking word will more than suffice but if you want a nice interface and built in organization I would give onenote a try.

I have OneNote 2007 and although it's really handy, I rarely use it. So far I've managed ok with hand-written notes.

I use OneNote 2007 daily for all my notes in class. Automatically saves the information and it allows me to put up checkpoints and reminders on a strong basis. It doesn't replace Word, but for general and daily use it works wonders.
