    Hey guys,

2 years ago I had to purchase Microsoft Office 2003 Professional Edition for my school program. I have not shared this program or my serial with anybody else. During the past 2 years I have had a couple computer reformats, a switched computers 3 times. I think I have installed Office using the same serial about at most about 6 times. Anyways, I just got a new laptop, and after I entered the serial while installing Office it worked fine. Then when I went to use Excel, it asked me to activate over the internet. I clicked next, then however it says I have used my serial number too many times, and cannot use it.

Whats up with that??? I paid 400 dollars for this program, and now they are telling me I cannot use it?? Does anyone know anyway of getting around this, or if it is worth it for me to phone the toll free number and talk to a support rep?? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I really need Office up and running for my schoolwork.

    Thanks in advance!

There is a set number of times that the software can be loaded and it seems that you have reached your limit. But all is not lost. When you get the failed activation notice, click to activate the software by phone option. You will then be prompted with a toll free number to call Microsoft.

There will be a series of numbers towards the bottom of the screen, be sure to leave this window open as you will be asked to enter these when prompted. More than likely the activation will fail again and you will then be transfered to a live operator. From that point they will provied you with your activation code. Enter it into the fields provied in the Window and once entered click on theh "activate" button located at the bottom of the window.

    Hope this helps!

I'm surprised you could install it 6 times. Most licenses only allow for 2-3 activations.

you can call (the free number in the activation page) and explain that you changed computer, etc...
they will give you an activation over the phone code..
